Freddie Morris, Jr.

On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, our loved one, Freddie Morris, Jr. was called home to be with the Lord. He was born to the late Freddie Morris, Sr. and Janie T. Morris on November 19, 1940. He grew up in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, and later made his home in Petersburg, Virginia, where Blandford held a special place in his heart.

He was a hardworking man who dedicated many years of his life to The Harlow-Hardy Furniture Co., where he worked as a delivery driver and furniture mover until his retirement. He took pride in his work and loved his job. He had a personality that would light up a room. Later in life, he gave his life to Christ and regularly attended Saint Paul’s Baptist Church, in Dinwiddie, Virginia, until his health began to decline. His faith and connection to his church community remained an important part of his life. For a number of years, he did volunteer work at various nursing homes in the area.

For leisure, he loved dancing, talking stuff, and cutting up with friends and family. He is affectionately called “Mississippi Boy” in honor of his favorite song by those who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered for his infectious personality, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to family and friends. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Morris; mother of his children, Rose Morris Smith; siblings, Mildred Reynolds, Emma Tucker, Mary Clark, Rebecca Morris, and James Morris; grandchildren; Nikki Brewer and Branden Prealeau; nephew, Wallace “Jake” Morris; son-in-law, Kenneth Kelley; and brother-in-law, Glover Tucker.

Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy: his children, Orelon Morris (Cynthia), Renee Morris, Faron Morris, Yolanda Kelley, Derek Morris (Raffella), and Bonita Morris, sister, Blanche Morris; grandchildren, Devario Hawkins, Orelon D. Morris, Rodney Jackson, Jr., Brevin Morris, Corwin Morris, Cavan Morris, Anitra Fonville and Ashley Fonville; sister-in-law, Francine Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many devoted friends who shared laughter, friendship, and many memorable moments throughout his life.

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” - Ecclesiastes 3:1
