Evangelist Nancy
G. Williams
Oct 22, 1935 — Feb 24, 2026
Evangelist Nancy G. Williams, 90, of Ford, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, at her son's residence, surrounded by love.
Nancy was born on October 22, 1935, in Prince George County, Virginia to the late James and Minnie Grammer. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 72 years, Whit Williams II.
Nancy was a dedicated and hardworking woman who wore many hats throughout her life. She worked various jobs, including at the Philadelphia Laundry, in factories, the Children's Baptist Home, a vendor at the Fort Lee Commissary and a caretaker for her grandchildren and her neighbor's children. She worked diligently to help provide for her family, demonstrating strength, resilience, and determination. Yet, of all the roles she carried, her most cherished work was being a loving wife and devoted mother. Her family was her heart, and she poured herself fully into nurturing, guiding, and praying for each one.
On May 23, 1970, Nancy answered the call and was ordained as an Evangelist by The Jameson Evangelistic Association, Inc., in Philadelphia to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She answered that call faithfully and without hesitation. Alongside her three sisters in Christ, Sister Pickens, Sister Cheatham, and Sister Mason, Evangelist Nancy walked the streets of Philadelphia sharing the Good News, handing out tracts, and praying for anyone the Lord placed in her path.
After returning to Virginia, she founded Evangelistic Gospel Mission in 1982. For over five decades, she ministered tirelessly, preaching, teaching, praying, and encouraging countless souls until her health began to decline. Her ministry extended far beyond the church walls. She supported missions around the world through prayer and financial giving, sponsored children in Africa until they reached adulthood, clothed and fed strangers, and quietly performed countless acts of kindness that reflected the love of Christ.
Evangelist Nancy loved Jesus with her whole heart. She expressed that love through joyful singing, fervent prayer, and unwavering faith. She delighted in cooking and inventing new recipes, tending to her vibrant flower gardens, canning fresh foods, reading health books, exploring natural remedies, and celebrating Christmas with warmth and joy. Her home was a place of comfort, wisdom, prayer, and unconditional love.
Nancy is survived by her nine devoted children: Shirley Gray, Whit Williams III, Margie Brooks (Lawrence), Angela Patterson, Faith Thomas (Wayne), Daniel Williams, Tony Williams, Mark Williams and Andrea Williams. She also leaves behind one loving sister, Blanche James; two loving sisters-in-law, Doris Tucker and Janie Lee Boykins; twelve cherished grandchildren: Shawntay, Jay, Alleen (Aaron), Philip, Allen (Yvonne), Crystal, Cory, Asia, Teyonna, Elijah, Imani and Abraham; thirteen treasured great grandchildren: Dwan, Camryn, Eniyah, Nevaeh, Sevion, Camron, Uriyus, Aaron, Austin, Cory, Ali, Landon, and Jade; along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to James River Home Health, Dr. Weart of Virginia Cancer Institute and the compassionate Staff of Johnston-Willis Hospital for the care, kindness, and support shown to our mother and our family. Your professionalism and compassion meant more to us than words can express.
Her life was a testimony of service, compassion, and obedience to God's call. The seeds she planted in faith will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." ~Matthew 25:23
