It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Emmbria M. Meade, 78, of Petersburg, VA. She passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA, with her family by her side.

Emmbria was born on March 8, 1948, in Sussex, VA to Bertha and Stulkey Boisseau. She attended Sussex County Schools. Emmbria was the epitome of hard work, dedication and love. Even though Emmbria had multiple jobs, she really enjoyed working at Carter's Truck Stop where she worked for 20 years before she retired. Emmbria found joy in cooking, sewing, shopping, fishing and helping others. She was the type of person that would speak her mind whether you continued to speak to her or not.

Emmbria was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha and Stulkey Boisseau; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte M. Atkins (James); great-great grandson, J'ace Smith; and last but never least, the love of her life, Willie E. "Wolf" Taylor.

Emmbria leaves behind special memories to those that truly loved and cherished her, including her children, Cassandra Meade Badal (Maharul), Giles Meade (Tonya), Jessica Meade and Edward Meade (Bridget); ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; six sisters, Sue Marks, Audrey Hall, Nancy Jones, Mary Frazier, Joan Howard and Carrie Boisseau; one brother, Willie White (Anna); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank all the Staff of Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, as well as the nurses that come by to do home visits. A very special thanks to our sister, Cassandra M. Badal, for taking care of our mother until her final breath, a most difficult task, yet she saw it through until the end.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Earl Thompson, eulogist.
