Emmanuel Syion Chie entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. He was born to the late David Nyeka Chie and Rebecca Mardia Chie in Monrovia, Liberia on March 19, 1952.

Emmanuel completed high school at Booker Washington Institute. He also attended The University of Liberia and worked as a Senior Inspector for customs.

Emmanuel moved to America in 1980 as a student, studying business administration. Also in 1980, he met his beloved wife, Eva. They married in 1982 and spent over forty years enjoying life and traveling with family and friends.

Along with his parents, Emmanuel was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah A. Chie; and his brother, David N. Chie, Jr.

Emmanuel leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of forty-two years, Eva N. Chie; three daughters, Manue S. Chie, Ellen Chie and Beneditta G. Chie; three sons, Nyepan N. Chie, Emmanuel G. Chie and David P. Chie; sisters Beatrice Chie Siryon (Amadu) brother-in-law, Robert Gordon; three sisters-in-law, Michelle L. Jones, Ruth M. Roberson and Diane J. Abron; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Bar-B-Que, Uncle Boy and Uncle Manny, as he was affectionately called, will truly be missed.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 10, 2025, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Dr. Juanita A. W. Harrison, eulogist. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
