Obituary

Reverend Elvin S. Turner, also known as "Orange Juice" or "Turner", was born July 17, 1948, to Deacon Herman Turner and Deaconess Willie Turner.  He peacefully entered his new home on August 10, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents; two brothers, Herman B. Turner and Elwood Turner; three sisters, Gloria Wilkins, Rozell Turner and Florence Harris; sister-in-law, Gloria Pender; and his wife of a blissful 49 years, Deaconess Brenda M. Turner.

Reverend Turner gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined Brown Grove Baptist Church, Chesterfield, VA. He remained a faithful member and Associate Minister at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, until the end of his journey.

He began his career in the trucking industry in 1967 and soon after enlisted into the Armed Forces in 1973, in California.  He was honorably discharged from the National Guard in 1979.  For many years the highways were Reverend Turner's home away from home, but as he said, "Route 1 will always lead you home".  After 45 years in the trucking industry, he retired from Expressway Trucking in 2012.

Outside of his career choices, Reverend Turner enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.  He was an avid Star Trek, karate and action movie lover, as well as a pro wrestling fan. Because Reverend Turner had a "Servant's Heart" he was always willing to be of service to anyone he had the opportunity to meet, until his heavenly discharge to be with the Lord.

Reverend Turner leaves to cherish his memory: three children: Sheila Artiga (Tony), Daryl Bailey (Vicky) and Yolanda Turner; honorary son, David Ross; two granddaughters, Khrystyna Kitt and Mia Bailey; one grandson, Johnathon Kitt; three great grandchildren, Eva Kitt-Artiga, Jade Kelley and Zephyr Lancaster; one sister who meant the world to him and was always able to make him "do what he didn't want to do", Edith Bailey; along with three other beautiful sisters, Wilda Pope, Wanda Henry and Carolyn Turner; two brothers, Michael and Keith Turner (Mary); brothers-in-law, Reverend Richard Bailey (Dorothy) and Dennis Bailey; honorary daughter, Juanessa Williams; honorary granddaughter, Antoinette Williams; honorary grandson, Hero Munreau; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
