Our beloved Elizabeth G. Crenshaw was born on September 8, 1955, to the late Robert Crenshaw, Sr. and Gladys Crenshaw Lawrence of Petersburg, Virginia. At the age of 71, she transitioned into eternal rest on September 28, 2026.
Affectionately known as “Belle” by her siblings, “Lizabelle” or “Liz” by friends and family, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jerry Lee Crenshaw of Amelia County, Virginia; and her sister, Anniebelle Thomas of Petersburg, Virginia.
With her bold spirit and love for life, she enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, reading, and knitting, to name a few. However, what Elizabeth loved and enjoyed most was gathering with her family and friends. She cherished the moments spent surrounded by the people she loved. With that same spirit, she devoted many years to being a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, creating memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
She was raised in Fifth Ward and graduated from Petersburg High School, Class of 1975. For a time, Elizabeth worked as a welder at Hon Company in Chester, Virginia. She was also a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Petersburg, Virginia.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Ocha Copeland (Avery) of Chester, Virginia; her son, Devine Crenshaw (Tekisha) of Midlothian, Virginia; five granddaughters, Talisa Crenshaw, Ziyan Crenshaw, Olivia Copeland, Charlotte Copeland, and Zeni Hall; two brothers, James Crenshaw (Carrie) and Robert Crenshaw, Jr. (Patricia) both of Petersburg, Virginia; a special niece, Javon Crenshaw Marshall (Howard) of Dinwiddie, Viriginia; a special friend, Monterey Brown Fraizer of Fayetteville, Georgia; along with many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Elizabeth will forever be remembered.
