It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Edward "Ed" Wallace Lane, 81, of Petersburg, VA. He passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA, with his wife, Theresa Lane by his side.

Ed was born on May 2, 1945, in Goldsboro, NC to Dorothy Louise Lane and Herman Lee Lane. He was the epitome of hard work, dedication and love. He was one of a kind.

At the age of 18, Ed joined the United States Air Force as a Jet Mechanic from 1963 to 1967 and was honorably discharged. Thereafter, he began his career as a meat butcher. Ed worked for several different companies throughout his life cutting, preparing and packaging meat for many loyal customers. He ended his career at Sam's Club, retiring in 2009. Ed found joy in working on cars, watching NASCAR racing and football (Washington Redskins fan), going fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards, lottery and the Olympics. He was a true jack of all trades.

Ed was a devoted husband to Theresa Lane for 35 years and was an exceptional father who always made time for all of his children. He was the father who stepped up and his pride and joy were his family.

Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Louise Lane; father, Herman Lee Lane; sister, Sandra Cooper; sons, Keith Aldrich and Uni Henry Renniger; sister-in-law, Maria Ramos; and his great grandson, Skottie Aldrich.

Ed leaves behind memories that will forever guide those who know and loved him to include his wife, Theresa Lane; children, Tina Hurdle, Debbie Lane, Daniel Lane (Jessica) of Massachusetts, Brandy White (Kenny), Mandy Renninger, Michael Aldrich, Jimmie Aldrich (Heather), Shane Aldrich (Victoria), Shirle Aldrich (Chris), Carey Renninger (Maurice), Crystal Renninger (Marcus), Tyeshia Ramos, Angel Ramos, and Adrian Jones; grandchildren, Brittany Fontenot (Carrington) and Jessica Lane-Walden (Ernest) who were like Ed's daughters, Jasavion Bates (Pennajai), Jasmine Ambrose, Dylan White, Jessie Bates, Jr., Jashante' Bates, DeAnte Bates, Dewan Bates, Alex Subar, Margaret Avery, Paige Lane, Samantha Hurdle, Mikayla Aldrich, Payton Aldrich, Serina Aldrich, Shane Aldrich, Jr., Fallon Rose, Zayden Irvin, Ireland Aldrich, Davina Gilliam, Alexis Aldrich, Johnathan Aldrich, Jacob Aldrich, DaJean Parker, Marcus Harris, Jr., DeMarcus Harris, Mercedes Harris, Melvin Harris, Marianna Harris and Addy Aldrich; great grandchildren, Briley and Chloe Fontenot, Noved Walden, Bella and Eriel McKinnon, Kaya "Baby K" Nazareth and Nizayiah Bates, Dewan Bates, Jr., Ja'syi Harris, Adonis Walker and the entire 36 family; his sister, Brenda Dean (Wayne) of Oklahoma; his brother, Louis Lane of Arlington, Virginia; and his cousin, Linda Wyatte of Union, South Carolina. Ed also leaves to cherish his memories his lifelong friends, Michael White (Judy), Bertha Green and the Cunningham family, Cindy and Donna, Brenda Moody and Louis Moody (Wade); and a host of other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service will be held 5:00 P.M., Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Carey Renninger, eulogist.

A viewing for Mr. Lane will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Friday, August 7, 2026, at the funeral establishment.
