Dwayne
Staton
May 8, 1966 — May 14, 2026
Dwayne Staton slipped into eternal rest on Thursday May 14, 2026, at home after a prolong failing health at the age of 60.
Dwayne attended Alexander Street Elementary School and graduated from Westside High School in Newark, NJ. He relocated to Virginia and was a dedicated employee at COVAN Moving and Storage in Petersburg, VA until his health started to fail. Dwayne and his twin brother Wayne were inseparable until Wayne's passing in 2013. Dwayne was a dedicated father and provider for his family. He and Wayne were introverts, they kept to themselves since they were children. It was hard to tell who was who. Their mother would just call both names Wayne… Dwayne, and which ever came first was who she wanted. Dwayne. like his twin. had a passion for comic books, video games, listening to his music, and listening to his book novels and other electronics.
Dwayne was the father of two children. He leaves to mourn his memories daughters, Angelica M. "Angel" Staton (Andrew) and Diseree Staton both of Newark, NJ; one grandson, Christopher "Chimmy" Dingle, Jr.; one granddaughter (twin), Akaylah Brown; one brother, Gonzales L. Johnson of Four Oakes, NC; three sisters, Theresa A. Taylor, and his twin sisters, Jeanette Reed "Greg" and Lynette Staton all of Petersburg, VA; two sisters-in-law, Laverne Staton of Fredericksburg, VA and Adriene O. Staton of Petersburg, VA; one aunt, Johneita Lee of Clinton, MD; his longtime special friend and mother of his children, Annie Benson of Newark NJ; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He also leaves behind a loving great nephew, Elijah B. McNeil, who always gave a listening ear. A special thanks to his brother-in-law, Gregory Reed for being there for him. Dwayne was always appreciative of him for everything.
Dwayne was predeceased by his loving mother, Mildred L. Staton-Shelton; father, Theodore Staton; grandson (twin) Chase Brown; loving brothers, Wayne Staton, Anthony L. "Tony" Staton and Theodore L. "Teddy" Staton; grandparents, George Johnson and Lorenes L. Johnson, and James and Arister Staton.
Dwayne's life has come to the end of the road. He gave meaning to the term LIVE, LOVE and LAUGH. He will be truly missed.
You can rest now little bro.
