Dixie Evangeline Disher was born April 30, 1954, in Petersburg, VA and died peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on September 29, 2025.

Dixie worked at Wal-Mart Distribution Center for 22 years and provided daycare for 15 years.  She was an active member of Sycamore United Methodist Church. She was also an excellent cook and loved to host gatherings for family and friends in her home. She loved being called "Nana".

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Richard C. Traylor and Sally Anderson Traylor. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Riggs; son, Sherwood Riggs; grandsons, Blake and Brayden; sister, Jane Avila and husband Bruce; and her beloved dog, Benji.

The family would like to thank Loretta and Ron Moneymaker for their exceptional and compassionate care of Dixie during her lengthy illness and her friends, Donna and Peyton Fuller, along with her church family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 A.M., Friday, October 3, 2025, at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 9710 Old Stage Road, Prince George, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sycamore United Methodist Church, 9710 Old Stage Road, Prince George, VA in memory of Dixie E. Disher.
