Diane “Lady
Di” Hargraves
Jul 30, 1945 — Nov 18, 2025
Our beloved Diane Hargraves left this earthly place unexpectedly to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Diane, affectionately known to many as "Lady Di", was a faithful member of Baptist Temple Baptist Church, where she served as youth coordinator. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Hargraves; father, Frank McCray; grandmother, Eva Carter; sister, Barbara "Bobbie" Hargraves; brother, Thomas Hargraves; grandson, KaJuan Hooper; nephew, Antoine Hargraves; and two great uncles, Roosevelt and Son Hargrave; and her devoted friends, Olivia Chandler and Glorine Washington.
Diane, born July 30, 1945, was a native and lifelong resident of Petersburg, Virginia (The Waterfront). She received her formal education through the Petersburg Public School System.
Diane was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and a friend for life. Lady Di was a diehard Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Commanders fan, and of course, she was a "super fan" of the late, Frankie Beverly and Maze. She also served as the past President of the Crystalettes Social Club of Petersburg, VA. Diane loved nothing more than cooking and caring for her loved ones, enjoying life and making the most of each moment. To know her was definitely to love her.
Diane was a blessing to all that had the privilege to know her. The footprints of her life and legacy will be carried on through her four devoted children, Dennis (LaCarsha), Nicole, Kevin and Kimberly (Jerry); grandchildren, Sherie (Jesus), Deonte, Destiny, Darius, Delvona, Devon, (devoted, Lamonte, Lavonte, LaQua), Angel, Shakiyla, Hakeem, Shaheed, Eriel, (devoted, Rachelle and Raven) and Quainnare. She was also survived by six siblings, Shirley Loftin, Rockwell Hargraves (Sarah), Acey Hargraves (Lindy), Faye Fisher (James) of Macon, Georgia, Artena Hargraves, Joseph Hargraves (Rhonda); and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and extended family; godchildren, Rodney Parham (Grown Man), Mu-min Chavis (Bookie), Deacon Wayne Washington (Cynthia), Derrick Walker, Wanda Crews, best friend; Ethel Edmonds (Boo), Kathleen (K-K) Hopkins, the "Posse", John Ward and Harvey Johnson, all who loved her dearly.
The family wishes to extend special thanks and gratitude to the Staff at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia, Sylvia Smith, Paula Wilson-Johnson and Irma Blackwell.
Services will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Kassandra Bullock, Pastor, and Rev. Logan Tatum, eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
