On Friday, July 31, 2026, God peacefully called our beloved son, grandson, great-grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, Devon Kennedy, home. Devon was born to John (also known as "Tank") and Cordelia on February 22, 1998, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Devon graduated from Westfield High School in Chantilly, Virginia. He was known for his beautiful singing voice and model-like features, both of which left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Singing was one of Devon's greatest passions, and he also had a deep appreciation for designer fashion, with Louis Vuitton being his favorite. He also enjoyed watching the Twilight and Marvel movies, with Spider-Man being his favorite superhero.

Devon was incredibly bright, kind-hearted, and full of life. His singing voice was truly one of a kind and brought joy to so many. One of our most treasured memories is watching his audition for the hit television show, The Voice. In addition to his love of music, Devon had a remarkable eye for fashion and interior design. He could envision the beauty and potential of any space with just a glance. He also admired Renaissance artwork, elegant vases, and woodsy décor, finding beauty in both classic and natural styles. Through his creativity, talent, and unique perspective, Devon left behind beautiful pieces of himself that we will cherish forever.

He was preceded in death by his baby sister, Najah Dunn; his grandfathers, Ronald Smith, Calvin Cutler and Archie Michael Kennedy, Sr.; his great-grandmothers, Margaret Sickles, Dorothy Cutler ("Nana") and Claudette Melvin; his great-grandfather, Albert Jenkins; his great aunt, Teel Hucks; and his great uncle, Stafford Hucks.

Devon leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Cordelia Branch (Shawn) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his father, John Kennedy of Norfolk, Virginia; his stepmother, Shellon Phillips of Alexandria, Virginia; his brothers, Daron Kennedy (Jadia) of Norfolk, Virginia and Qaahir Phillips of Alexandria, Virginia; and his sisters, Nubia Dunn of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Dejah Kennedy of Moultrie, Georgia. He also leaves his grandmothers, Tammy Hucks of Washington, DC and Denise Conway of Norfolk, Virginia; his great-grandmother, Melvina Jenkins of Petersburg, Virginia; his three beloved nephews, Da'Mari Bolton of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Karter Kennedy of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Karson Kennedy of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Devon is also lovingly remembered by his aunts and uncles, Tiffany Hucks of Locust Grove, Virginia; Kasandra Wood (Lonell) of Silver Spring, Maryland; Patricia Lee (Jesse) of North Carolina; Archie Kennedy Jr. of Chesapeake, Virginia; Daryl Kennedy of Norfolk, Virginia; William Kennedy (Jessica) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Archie Kennedy III (Ashley) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Charles Smith of Washington, DC; Calvin Nelson of New York; and three bonus uncles Lamont Johnson of Norfolk, Virginia; Ronsha Johnson of Norfolk, Virginia; and Cornelius Johnson of Norfolk, Virginia along with a host of cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, talent, and loving spirit.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 15, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA.
