Obituary

Denise Carolyn Price, 56, entered eternal rest on March 19, 2025, at her earthly home in Hopewell, VA.

God looked down on his daughter "Denise" and called her home where there would be no more pain. Our hearts were truly saddened, but we knew she was tired. She closed her eyes as she lay in her bed at her earthly home and peacefully transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home. We serve a God who does not error or make mistakes and gives us the courage and strength to go through whatever we have to go through.

She was born April 13, 1968, to the late Joann Goodwyn. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Edward C. and Marjorie Q. Young; sister, Ruth E. Goodwyn; twin brother, Dennis Turner; brothers, Richard Goodwyn and Larry Williams; aunts, Ruth Peay, Ethel Myers, and Caldonia Young; uncles, Robert Edward Young, Sr., Stewart Young and Hosia James Butts. Denise was also preceded in death by her cherished companion, Herbet Allen.

Denise was a graduate of Petersburg High School, Petersburg VA, Class of 1986. She then went on to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for 28 years at various nursing homes in the Richmond Metro Area and Tri City Area, Lucy Corr in Chesterfield, VA, Riverview on the Appomattox Health Rehab Center, Hopewell Convalescent Center, Colonial Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, retiring from Sitter Barfoot Veterans Care Center and in private homes.

Denise was a lifetime diehard Dallas Cowboys football fan. She loved cooking and having family and friends around. She loved her job of taking care of others and helping others. She had a giving heart. She loved her grandchildren. Growing up, she loved hanging out with her cousins, Sherwood Young, Cheryl Douglas, and Deborah Myers, and her girlfriend, Tavia Murdock. They were a force to be with, always having a good time.

She leaves to cherish memories her daughter, Jessica Newell of North Carolina; devoted sister, Juanita Goodwyn of Prince George, VA; brother, Dwayne "Timmy" Goodwyn of Midlothian, VA; sister-in-law, Donna Williams (Larry deceased) of Disputanta, VA; grandchildren, Demarian Mclaughlin, Yasmine Newell and Jayden Vaughan all of North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Christopher and Alexandria Tayborn both of Prince George, VA, Brian Williams of Maryland, Brandell Williams of Disputanta, VA, Ayla Goodwyn of Chester, VA, Richard and Kevin Goodwyn both of Netherlands, Richard Schonhaber of Germany and Akeelah Navarrette Goodwyn of Philippians; devoted friends who assisted during her illness over the years and final care, Rosetta and Bob Tyler, Cynthia Bradshaw, Yvonne and Rondell Coleman; co-worker, Phyllis Jones; supervisor, Mary Lewis; and host of other family and friends.
