Mrs. Delores Hoosier of Hopewell, VA, departed this life suddenly on August 16, 2025, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. Delores affectionately was known as "Lois or Sis", was born on April 28, 1950, to the late Otis Alexander and Alice Whorld. She was a graduate from Peabody High School of Petersburg, VA, and also attended Richard Bland College, Petersburg, VA.
She was a very talented and creative person; she enjoyed sewing (self-taught), alterations of clothing and other items. She also encouraged others through her biblical faith. Delores was employed and retired with 28 years of service from Southside Virginia Training Center, Petersburg, VA.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Monica Richardson; aunt, Margaret Stewart; father-in-law, Amos Hoosier, Sr.; and her mother-in-law, Mary Hoosier.
Delores leaves to cherish her memories: a faithful loving and supportive husband of 47 years, Amos Hoosier, Jr. "Beana"; one devoted son, Damion Wynn of Atlanta, GA; one grandson, Vernon C. Richardson, Jr. (Chermil) of Ettrick, VA; four brothers, Lee Alexander, Jr. (Pamela) of Lawton, OK, Garnette Alexander (Linda) of Petersburg, VA, Robertnette Alexander (Eloise) of South Chesterfield, VA, and Ronnie Alexander of Richmond, VA; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Hoosier, Debra Jasper (George) and Sheryl Reeves (Scott) and Wanda Huff (Robert) of Atlanta, GA; two brothers-in-law, Michael Hoosier of Atlanta, GA and Craig Hoosier (Beryl'lynn) of Petersburg, VA; one very special cousin/sister, Corine Williams-Brown of Petersburg, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends too numerous to name.
