Obituary

Deaconess Eva V. Everson departed her earthly home to her eternal home on April 18, 2026. Deaconess Eva was born on March 26, 1927 to the late Joseph S. and Elnora Brown. She attended school in Sussex County. She married Deacon Fred D. Everson and was married over 55 years.

Deaconess Eva was baptized at an early age and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sussex County. She later became a member of Wilborne Baptist Church, Waverly, VA, where her husband was a member and served as a Deacon. She served as a Deaconess until her health declined.

Deaconess Eva retired from Sussex County Public Schools as a bus driver. She also worked for years in the school cafeteria. She was employed for over 35 years. She loved being a bus driver and in her late days she talked about the bus and her students which she transported at least three generations.

Deaconess Eva was preceded in death by husband, Fred D. Everson;  and her brothers, Willie Joe Brown (Audrey), James Wesley Brown (Eleanor), Floyd Brown, Sr. and Haywood Brown who passed at an early age. Also, her nephew, Floyd Brown, Jr., and other close relatives.

Deaconess Eva leaves to cherish her precious memories to her devoted children, Iris D. Brown, Winfred D. Everson (June), Larry D. Everson (Gloria) and Sandra F. Diggs. Also, grandchildren, Dirk Ward (Lisa) who was raised as their own. She also has bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Irene Davis and Ida Newman; one brother-in-law, Herbert Everson. Memories extend to a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Deaconess Eva was blessed to have a dedicated and loving companion aide, Lisa Burgess who has been with her twelve years. Ruth King was a dedicated, loving companion for over 10 years before her retirement. Many thanks for the care given. Sheron Barrow also was present to lend a helping hand in any capacity.

Deaconess Eva enjoyed her family most of all. She enjoyed sitting with her children daily talking and laughing and often reminiscing. She enjoyed attending church and shopping. She was the matriarch who led by example. She had a lot of love and respect for ALL. We will truly miss her and continue to enjoy the memories of a life well lived.
