Obituary

Deaconess Dale Andre Thompson, a faithful servant of God, beloved sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully entered eternal rest on October 19, 2025. She was born on September 10, 1954, to Deacon Paul Stewart and Deaconess Pearl Stewart, both deceased.

Dale was raised in a loving Christian home alongside her caring brother, Gerald Stewart (Rita) and her late brother, Paul Stewart, Jr. She was a proud graduate of Hopewell High School, Class of 1972, and later continued her education at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, graduating with an Applied Science Degree.

From a young age, Dale's faith was the foundation of her life. She was baptized at Mount Calvary Baptist Church at 11 years old, beginning a lifelong journey of service and devotion. Throughout her years at Mount Calvary, Dale served faithfully in numerous ministries — including the Missionary Ministry, Sunday School (where she taught the Young Adult class), and as Vice Secretary of the church. Her passion for guiding and uplifting youth led her to serve as President of the Youth Ministry, where she inspired many young people in their walk with Christ.

Her service extended beyond the church walls. Dale worked with the Hopewell Redevelopment and Housing Authority's Afterschool Program, where her nurturing spirit and dedication continued to touch countless lives.

On July 19, 1974, Dale was united in holy matrimony to Deacon Ronnie C. Thompson, her devoted husband and lifelong partner.

Dale's life was one of unwavering faith, love, and compassion. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, kind heart, and steadfast commitment to serving others through her church and community.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Deacon Ronnie C. Thompson; devoted son, Ronnie C. Thompson, Jr. (Sandy); adored grandchildren, Cass and Raquel; brother, Gerald Stewart (Rita); aunts, Shirley Howard, Shirley Hill Young and Sheila Young; uncle, Tyrone Young (Carrie); great aunt, Marie Bennett; a host of in-laws who loved her as their own; a forever devoted family member, Gloria Broom; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Her legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 3806 Courthouse Road, Hopewell, VA, the Rev. Dr. Vodricka L. Epps, Pastor, eulogist.

A wake will be held from 4:30 P.M. until 5:30 P.M., Friday, October 31, 2025, at the funeral establishment.
