On June 14, 2025, our hearts were deeply saddened by the passing of our loved one, Colonel David L. Goode, 74. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on August 29, 1950.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie L. Parham and his brother, Linwood Johnson.

David leaves to cherish one daughter, Chandrelle Roberts (Kenyatta); one sister, Lucille Jones; a life companion, Gloria Clarke; stepdaughter, Lynnell Clarke Lewis; four nephews, Gregory Goode, Tyrone Goode (Tia), Michael Goode and James Jones (Elle); two grandchildren, Jayona Prosise and Janiyah Bland; and a devoted friend, Franklin Brown. David also leaves behind a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a member of the Wayside Gun Club in Charles City, Virginia.  He was a very well-known avid huntsman, fisherman, and craftsmen with many accolades and awards earned.

David was a veteran having served in the Vietnam War from April 1968 until April 1970. He received a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon and Service Medal, and Rifle Marksman. Upon completing his military obligations, he began a career with Central State Hospital/Southside Virginia Training Center retiring after 40 years of service. His titles included: Director of Fire and Safety Security; Director of Public Safety and Fire; ending with the title of Chief of Police/Colonel.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 23, 2025, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Horace B. Parham, Jr., eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
