Dale Gardner Welch, 63, of 517 Battery Place, Colonial Heights, VA, was born on July 20, 1963, to Jack Leroy Welch and Dorothy Lillian Crocker-Welch. He passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his best friend, daughter, and his granddaughter.

Dale enjoyed spending time with his best buddy, Mufassa, his dog, and watching westerns. In his younger days, he loved spending time at the river and listening to music. In recent days, he enjoyed spoiling his granddaughter.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Jack Leroy Welch; mother, Dorothy Lillian Crocker-Welch; sister, Carolyn Ann Welch; and brother, Larry Stephen Elder; significant other, best friend/ and caregiver, Amy Lynn Hersee; children, Carrie Lynn Strum (David); granddaughter, Abigail Lynn Strum; siblings, Archie Leroy Welch (Deborah), Leroy Pope and Melody June Hershey ( James); nieces, Teresa Lynn Welch, Kaitlyn Brooke Welch, Ashley Frye, Jennifer Elder and Lisa Roylace; nephews, Mark Pope and Daniel Hershey; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will have a private celebration of life on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
