Obituary

One of God's precious angels went home to be with the Lord, Daishonae Janell Hicks, affectionately known as "Dae", 26 of Henrico, VA. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Daishonae was born on March 12, 2000, in Henrico, VA. She was preceded in death by her great grandmother, Virgina O. Hicks; grandmother, Mary Ann Ray; and grandfather, Clifford Edge.

She graduated from Henrico County Public School system where she received specialized training in culinary arts, graphic design, and cosmetology. She continued her education at Reynolds, obtaining her Nursing Aide Certification. She was employed at Parham Rehabilitation Center, where she cared for others with compassion and dedication.

Daishonae came to know the Lord at a very early age. She was a social butterfly with a kind and friendly spirit. Her vibrant personality and bright smile could light up any room she entered. She was very intelligent and the family's favorite jack of all trades. From technical support, a personal stylist, to our premier MUA creating flawless glam for others. She could do it all! She trained in martial arts with her father. She was very creative and enjoyed knitting, painting, and spending time with family and friends. Daishonae was a true performer at heart; she mastered cheerleading, singing, ballet, and dancing. She also had a special love for animals. Daishonae leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and her charismatic energy that will be cherished forever.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: mother, Leona Hicks; father, Larry Hicks, Jr.; grandparents, Leon Pulliam (Viveca), Larry Hicks, Sr. (Jeanette), and Rosina Edge; uncle, Reginald Shipp (Wanetta); aunts, Barbara Ann Stewart, Ellen Booker (Darrell), Debbie Jackson (Jeffery), Shannon Canady (Maurice), and Brittny Davis; great uncles, Clemetine Robinson (Elaine), Abraham Robinson, Kenneth Pulliam (Liz), William Hicks, Clifford Shipp, Sr., and Rayon Wheeler; great aunts, Talitha Shipp-Jackson, Estelle Shipp, Deloris Pulliam, Lillian Draper (Ronnie), and Lorine Jordan;  godmother, Brandi Flowers and godfathers, Altonia Johnson and Charles Flowers; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends, too numerous to name.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA.  The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
