Obituary

Cynthia Yvette Jones, affectionately known by many as the "Luv Twin," was born on March 5, 1955, in Petersburg, Virginia, to the late Sam and Lillian Brown Roberthson. On October 9, 2025, at the age of 70, Cynthia peacefully departed this life at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia.

A proud graduate of Petersburg High School, Cynthia went on to attend Virginia State University, where she majored in Psychology. She lived an adventurous and fulfilling life—one truly marked by love, joy, and purpose.

Cynthia spent many memorable years living abroad in Europe, where she worked in special education and discovered her deep passions for travel, culture, and cuisine. Her kitchen often overflowed with the comforting aromas of her favorite dishes, shepherd's pie and quiche, both prepared with care and shared generously with family and friends.

She especially cherished the holiday season, with Christmas and Thanksgiving holding a special place in her heart. During those times, Cynthia's home was filled with warmth, laughter, and love—moments that reflected her nurturing spirit and her gift for bringing people together. She embraced life fully and left nothing undone. Her radiant energy, quick wit, and unwavering love for others will continue to shine brightly through all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her siblings, Linda Brown, David Brown, and Jerome Greenerl; her beloved son, Kwartei Jones; and grandson, Deaven Claytor.

She was formerly married to Stephen E. Jones, and together they shared five beloved children, Jermaine Jones (Katia), Niyossii Claytor (Errick), Sellis Jones, and Stephen C.  Jones (Cierra). Cynthia was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and laughter touched every life she encountered. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren. Tyanna Jones, Shiane Jones, Leigh Claytor, Niala Claytor, Shaun Jones, Cylee Jones, Caydence Jones, Kavahree Jones and Jermaine Jones. Cynthia is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings, Sellis Roberthson (Martha), Iona Beasley, Brenda Banda (Guillermo), Wyonetta Hardee (Joseh), Mack Macklin (Joyce), her twin sister, Theresa Davis and her sister-in-law, Sarah Greenerl. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will cherish her memory forever. Though she may be gone from our sight, she will forever remain in our hearts.
