Clinton "Iceman"
Savannah
Dec 17, 1952 — Jun 12, 2025
Clinton "Iceman" Savannah entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 17, 1952, to the late Willie Richard Savannah, Sr. and Pearlie Mae Savannah. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Conoka Brown Savannah; one sister, Linda Savannah-Austin; and two brothers, Louis Savannah, Sr. and Jerome Savannah.
A longtime resident of the Hopewell community, Clinton attended Hopewell Public Schools before proudly serving in the United States Army. Before enlisting, he began working at the local Ice Plant, where he earned his lifelong nickname, "Iceman." Over the years, he held positions at Winn-Dixie grocery store, Allied Chemical Plant, and the Fort Lee Logistics Supply Center.
Clinton had a wide range of interests and hobbies. A loyal fan of the Washington Commanders, he also enjoyed playing card games, trying his luck with the lottery, and visiting various casinos. Known for his love of music and his soulful renditions of love ballads, Iceman was the life of every gathering, always ready with a story or a joke to make everyone laugh.
He had a deep love for his family and community and demonstrated that love through countless acts of kindness. He mentored many young people, often helping with homework and encouraging them in their goals. Whether hosting a cookout or simply enjoying time with family and friends, Clinton made every moment memorable with his humor, warmth, and generosity.
He leaves to cherish his memory five children: Antonio Savannah, Zenobia Perry, Andrial Savannah, Fatisha Blanding, and Timothy Daniels; two brothers, Charles Savannah (Cora) of Hopewell, VA, and Bishop Willie Savannah of Petersburg, VA; one loving sister, Toni Davis (Robert) of Woodbridge, VA; and one sister-in-law, Catherine Savannah of Hopewell, VA.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kiandra Savannah, Jahnahe Rogers, Eric Rogers Jr., Chyna Perry, Jasma Bailey, Kamaia Priest, and Jamari Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Jacari Jones, Jayceon Harrison, and Indyia Weary; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
His devoted nephews include Michael Savannah, Robert Davis, Jr., and Louis Savannah. His devoted nieces include: Laminda McDonald, Dr. Alicia Gibson, Dr. Natasha Savannah-Randals, Angela Davis, Antoinette Davis, Tonya Vaughan, Reisha Savannah and Kim Jones.
With profound appreciation, the family acknowledges the exceptional care, compassion, and unwavering support extended by Demetria Ellis and Cecilia Alvarez throughout Clinton's illness. The family is also especially grateful to his devoted friends Carlene Coleman, Darlene Hurrye, Rita Hansard, Charmaine Humphrey, Cynthia Delaney, Gray Hill, Terrance Grant, Elesia Ellis, Randy Lewis, and Facillia Blanding.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital, Chippenham, Tri-Cities, and the At Home Care Hospice Team for their dedicated service. Also, thank you to his niece and nephew BreShwana Gibson and Jakob Bentley who cared for their uncle during his time of illness.
