Christine W. Johnson

Christine Walker Johnson departed this life on September 27, 2026, at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Chesterfield, Virginia.

Christine was born on August 22, 1935, in Brunswick County, Virginia, to the late Bennie and Pearl Walker. She received her formal education in the public schools of Dinwiddie County, Brunswick County, Virginia, and Baltimore, Maryland, graduating from Dinwiddie Training School (Dinwiddie High School) in 1953.

In March 1960, Christine married her soulmate, Theodore William Johnson ("Ted"), who preceded her in death. Fittingly, Christine took her last breath on what would have been Ted's 94th birthday. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with two children, Andre William Johnson and Angela Denise Johnson Russell.

Christine retired from Brown & Williamson, where she worked as a tour guide and later as a Quality Control Analyst. An avid reader throughout her life, she turned her love of books into a second and final career, serving as an aide at the Ettrick-Matoaca Library. She found great joy in learning, reading, and helping others access the resources she so deeply valued.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Emmanuel (Gus) Walker and William Walker; and her beloved husband, Theodore William Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Andre W. Johnson of South Chesterfield, Virginia; her loving daughter, Angela Johnson Russell (Henry Jr.) of Hampton, Virginia; her granddaughters, Christina N. Ford Johnson of Washington, DC, and Alta Lynee Russell of Ashburn, Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Vaughn, Kisha, Devin, Isaiah, Victoria, and Baby Canaan, expected in November 2026; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.

Services for Mrs. Johnson will be private.
