Obituary

With arms wide open, peace calls each soul, and that peace came to Carolyn Eloise Walker Jackson on Monday, July 28, 2025, when she answered the Master's call at her residence. She was born on May 15, 1932, the tenth child of Ashton L. Walker, Sr. and Maude Macklin Walker.

Carolyn's Christian experience began at an early age when she attended Zion Baptist Church and continued in New Jersey where she was baptized at Saint Paul's Baptist Church.

During her formative years, Carolyn moved to Washington, DC to live with her sister, Isabelle. She was educated through Washington, DC Public Schools, graduating from Cardozo High School. She later moved with her family to New Jersey where she remained until her retirement.

Carolyn was employed as Head Seamstress at National Dress Company in New Jersey until it's closing. She was later employed at AT&T as Documentation Control Supervisor from which she retired in1989. After many years in New Jersey, she returned home to her Virginia roots. Upon returning home, she joined the Red Hatters, Happy Hour Senior Citizens Club, and Swinging Seniors and Company Dance Team. She was the President of the Tri-City Council of Senior Citizens, served on the executive board of the National Council of Senior Citizens in Washington, DC, and she was the membership chairperson for the Virginia State Council of Senior Citizens for the State of Virginia.

Carolyn was an impeccable seamstress, and her meticulous sewing skills and creativity produced garments that were runway worthy. She enjoyed playing computer games, bowling, trying new recipes, baking pastries, and taking day road trips.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister, Isabelle Walker Banks; and her brothers, Ashton Jr., Herbert, Delma Sr, Wilbur and Charles Walker.

Carolyn's memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, Deborah Jackson Hart of Petersburg, VA; grandson, Deven Jackson of Petersburg, VA; granddaughter, Joi Jackson Jarmon (Alfred) of Accokeek, MD; great granddaughters, Kendall Jackson, Kaniya Jackson, Allyson Jarmon and Aliza Jarmon; step grandson, Malachi Jarmon; brother, Harold J.
