"Carcar" Dodson
Sep 30, 1971 — Dec 30, 2025
Mr. Carlos "CarCar" Lashelle Dodson of Petersburg, Virginia, peacefully transitioned from his physical body on December 30, 2025, at HCA TriCities Hospital (John Randolph Hospital).
Carlos graduated from Petersburg High School, Class of 1989. CarCar got along with everyone. He was a very chill individual who loved his hometown and had a passion for sports, especially football. CarCar was a natural athlete. He was an avid baseball player and he was a proud fan of the Dallas Cowboys. CarCar also sang New Edition songs at all of the talent shows in Pecan Acres.
Although CarCar had no biological children of his own, Carlos helped to shape the lives of many youth that grew up in Pecan Acres, teaching them the essentials of the sport of football, as well as life skills and tools to further themselves in life.
Carlos was regarded as an "OG" to many of his peers in the community and the love was reflected by warm regards and prayer from friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Dodson and Shirley Pettiford Dodson; two sisters, Sharon Pettiford and Sarelda Watts; and his brother, Roderick Dodson.
Carlos leaves to cherish his memories: his soulmate, Christine Johnson of Petersburg, Virginia; four brothers, Andre Pettiford of Petersburg, VA, Herbert Pettiford (Callisto) of Hopewell, Virginia, Alonzo Dodson, Broderick Dodson (Loretta) and Kevin Dodson all of Petersburg, Virginia; one sister, Caprice Dodson (Tyrone) of Hopewell, Virginia; nieces, Sherese Pettiford, Shannon Pettiford (Sebastian) and Porsha Nettles; nephews, Broadus Pettiford, Androcles Pettiford, Josiah Pettiford, Javon Dodson, Brandon Dodson, DaQuan Dodson and Lonnell; several grandchildren of his soulmate Christine; his homeboys, Antoine Jones, Andre Stephens, Donald Reid, Lawrence Thigpen, Terry Goode, Tony Roberts, DeShawn Harris, Arkel Graves, Marlow Jones and a gang of others; devoted friend, Tony Thompson; and a host great nephews, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
