Obituary

Brenda Jean Price was born on February 11, 1945, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Cleothus Harris and Nannie Mae Talley. On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, our hearts were deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Brenda Jean Price. She peacefully departed this life at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Arthur Talley; her brothers, Fred Harris and Douglas Talley; her sisters, Patricia Bell and Carol Gash; and her granddaughter, Ebonè Gamby.

Brenda spent most of her life in Petersburg, Virginia, where she received her education in the Petersburg Public School System. She later resided in Chester, Virginia. She became a pillar in her community, known for her strength, compassion, and unwavering love for others.

A devoted mother to her seven children, Brenda cherished each of them with all her heart. She was also a nurturing presence beyond her own family, serving as a foster grandparent, where she poured love into countless young lives. Affectionately known as "The Candy Lady" in the Pin Oaks community, Brenda brought joy to many through her kindness and generosity.

Brenda was a true leader and community advocate. She organized teen trips, founded a Teen Club within the Pin Oaks community, and served as President of the Pin Oaks Association. She was also a proud and supportive mother, serving as Band Manager for "The Soul Connection", a group formed by her son and his friends, where she provided guidance, encouragement, and support.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving children: Bobby Price, Sharon Gamby (Alvin), Rita Price, Patrick Price, Cynthia Scriviner (Andy), Valerie Price, and Steven Curtis (Renee); her beloved sister, Bernice Minter (S. Lamar); grandchildren, Ontario Jackson, Tiffany Tucker, Donetra Eddings, Jasmine Gamby, JaJuan Price, Alvin Gamby, Jr., JaQuia Price, Quintel Price, Ayanna Williams, DeAndre Curtis, Ny'Aishia Curtis, Jourdan Williams, Alexis McCoy and Abria McCoy. She is also survived by twenty great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Brenda's legacy of love, service, and strength will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
