Ms. Brenda A. Martin, of 7530 Hollyleaf Court, North Chesterfield, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Born and raised in New York City, Brenda grew up surrounded by the energy and community that shaped her warm, determined spirit. In 2012, she fulfilled a long-held intention to move to Virginia, seeking a better way of life for her children and the chance to be closer to family.

Brenda was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, and a true friend to all who needed her. She graduated from LaGuardia Community College and went on to work at P.S. 127, where she touched the lives of many through her dedication and compassion.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Alfreida C. Hawkins Dorsey and Robert Martin; and her stepfather, Leroy Dorsey.

She is survived by her four children, Noelle Martin-Carmichael (Jason), Cordell Martin (Andre), Aaliyah Martin, and Shakia Martin; grandchild, Joelle Martin (Annie); great grandchildren, Germani, Joelle Jr. and Alayah Martin; one sister-in-law; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Brenda will be remembered for her strength, her love, and her unwavering commitment to her family - a legacy that continues through each life she touched.

Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Overseer Phillip Culver, eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
