Brenda Gayle "BB" Bright, 76, of Petersburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her hometown on April 22, 2025. Born on February 9, 1949, in Petersburg, Virginia, Brenda spent her life rooted in the community she loved. After graduating from high school, she loved working as a cook.

Brenda married young and dedicated her life to being a stay-at-home wife and mother, taking great pride in caring for her family and creating a warm, loving home. Her life was always centered around her family. Known for her strength and humility, Brenda was always there to lend a helping hand. She became a second mother to many, offering guidance, support, and unconditional love. Her nurturing spirit touched countless lives within the community.

She is survived by her devoted children, Teresa Bright (Willie Simmons) and Charles Thompson, Jr. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Tiara Bright, Alexis Thomas, and Devon Bright (Kiera Thompson). Also, Brenda leaves behind her five beloved great-grandchildren, Ke'Mondrea Bright, Devon Bright, Jr., Ru'Karri Bright, Sy'Uari Booker, and Amarni Bright. Brenda's love deeply extended to her nephews, Dominic Fisher (wife, Margo Fisher and great nephew, Messiah Fisher) and Shamon Fisher (wife, Tanisha Fisher and great niece, Shamiya Fisher), who held special places in her heart.

Brenda now reunites with those who went before her: her mother, Mary Francis Thornton; husband, Edward Bright; devoted friend and father to her son, Charles "Bunny" Thompson, Sr.; brothers, John Thornton, Jr.; Ralph Thornton and Gregory Claiborne; children, Yvette "Penny" Bright and Andrew "Bam" Bright; and her sisters-in-law, Brenda Fisher and Linda Roberts. All who played a significant role in our lives are truly missed.

Brenda's passing reminds us all that life is precious and unpredictable. Her legacy and kindness encourage everyone to cherish our loved ones while we can.
