Obituary

Arlene Prosise Green Graves was called to eternal rest on March 15, 2026. She was born to the late Willie Roy Prosise and Verline Jones Prosise. She lived a life rich in love and service to others.

Arlene was a woman of profound faith, whose heart overflowed with devotion to the Lord. Known for her sweetness and kindness, she dedicated herself to caring for others, making every effort to ensure those around her felt loved and valued. Her sense of style was complimented by her love for fine jewelry, which she wore with grace to match her vibrant spirit.

Those who knew Arlene were often touched by her generous nature. She would willingly give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She was a true vision of compassion. Her home was a safe place for many, as she opened her doors to family and strangers alike. Her heart of gold was evident in her unwavering commitment to the welfare of others, a true testament to her character and the love she shared.

Arlene's light will forever shine in the hearts of those she loved, and her spirit will continue to inspire acts of kindness and compassion in all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Arthur Green; grandson, Frederick Douglas Green; and her brothers, Lawrence Prosise, Harvey Prosise, Morris Prosise, James Prosise, George Prosise, and Randolph Prosise Simms.

Arlene leaves to cherish her husband of twenty-three years, Curtis Graves; three devoted daughters, Arlene Hylton (Kevin), Janet Green Morgan (Anthony), and Ann Green Sanders (Carlton); two devoted sons, James Green (Sarah), and Clifford Green (Sylvia); and a stepdaughter, Kiara Coger. She also leaves twenty-three grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Darlene Prosise Trotter, Daisy Prosise Madison, and Alice Prosise Jackson (David); three brothers, Mack Prosise, Leroy Prosise, and Oscar Prosise (Mary); one aunt, Barbara Jean Jones; two brothers-in-law, Bernardo "Nookie" Slaughter and Dale Slaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
