Mr. Antoine Butts, 67, of Wakefield, VA, peacefully departed this life on January 21, 2026, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, VA. He was born on December 3, 1958, to the late James Vernon Butts, Sr. and Vernell Saunders Butts.

Educated in Surry County Public Schools, Antoine worked faithfully as a Certified Equipment Operator with Pinecrest Timber Company. He was known for his strong work ethics, dependability, and pride in every job he completed.

Antoine was a self-learned, skilled auto mechanic. His skills and love for helping people earned him the reputation of the neighborhood mechanic. His compassion was fixing up old vehicles. He was very proud of his skills. On the weekends Twan would wash and wax his vehicle and take a slow ride through the neighborhood smiling and letting everyone know who would listen how good his vehicle sounded.

Antoine loved the outdoors, gardening, perfecting his lawn, watching westerns, cooking, telling jokes. His humor, kindness, and helping spirit made him cherished by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Fannie Butts Hendrix, Queen Saunders Donaldson, Calvin (Dr. Rock) Butts, James Vernon Butts, Jr., and Eva Jeraldine Brown.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Shilton Ricks Butts; sons, Harold Shears (Lettia), Antonio Crockett, Twandell Crockett, and Calvin Ricks; daughters, Antionette Crockett, Krystal Crockett, Felicia Holloman, and Farrah Ricks.

He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and by his siblings, Carol Butts (Hazel), Odell Butts (Patricia), and Sharlean Butts- Graves; sisters-in-love, Vernice Butts and Patricia Butts; special nephew, Calvin "Shawn" Stith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Antoine will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, laughter, and hard work will live on in all who had the blessing of knowing him.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 6, 2026, Union Baptist Church, 5962 Laurel Springs Road, Spring Grove, VA, the Rev. Leroy D. Evans, Jr., Pastor. The interment to follow in the church cemetery.
