Anthony D.
"Tony" Watson, Sr.
Mar 9, 1967 — Dec 29, 2025
Anthony Dwayne Watson, Sr., 58, affectionately known as Tony, suddenly passed away on December 29, 2025. He was born on March 9, 1967 in Little Rock, Arkansas; but was raised in Chicago, Illinois.
Tony was a dedicated servant of Jehovah and was baptized on March 15, 1997. He truly loved his God, Jehovah, and felt that the best thing his mother did was to introduce him to Jehovah. One of his favorite verses was Psalms 83:18. He would share his faith with everyone he came in contact with. He enjoyed being a ministerial servant and loved his Hopewell Congregation family. He would stand by the kingdom hall door and greet everyone as they entered with a nice big smile and a bigger handshake.
Tony was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He took his responsibility as a family head and provider very seriously. He was a jokester with family and friends, even when not feeling his best, you could count on him for a laugh. He was a hard worker and a dedicated employee of Republic Services. He was also well known for his loving personality. Everyone spoke about him as always being so happy and full of joy. Tony will be truly missed.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, James Watson and Barbara Jean Hines; his brother, Clarence Hines; his sister, Tiffany Watson; his son, Anthony Dwayne Watson Jr; his niece who was like a daughter, Des'ree Hines; and brother in-law, Lorenzo James.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 29 years, Sharon James Watson; two sons, Jonathan Anderson and Tyrell James (Brittany); one daughter, Ashia M Watson; four grandchildren, Zakarri Watson, Zayden Anderson, Kaleah Ayers, and Lauren James; three brothers, Jamaal Hines, Daryl Ussery, and Travis Watson; four sisters, Sandra Watson, Stacy Watson, Christina Hines, and Shakita Hines; a special cousin, Willie Miller; three brothers in-law, Martin James (Wanda), George James (Drucilla), and Rodney James; two sisters in-law, Gale Talley (Andrew), and Michelle Jones along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends, all of whom he dearly loved.
Tony will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his strength, his hard work, his sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family. Though he will be greatly missed, his legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
