Obituary

Anniebelle Thomas was born January 15, 1938, to the late Gladys Crenshaw and Willie Satterwhite in Dinwiddie, Virginia. On October 25, 2025, Anniebelle transitioned to eternal life. Her life can be summarized with three words: God, Family, and Community.

Anniebelle was a woman of devout faith. She accepted Christ at a young age. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Unity Baptist Church for many years until her health prevented in person worship. Anniebelle was an active member participating in the Unity Church Choir and she served as a dedicated member on the Pastor's Aide Committee. She served faithfully in those ministries with kindness and a warm spirit. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Anniebelle's silent strength, compassion and unshakable faith will always be remembered.

Mrs. Thomas dedicated much of her life caring for others through her work as a Nurse Assistant. Her gentle nature, compassion and quiet strength touched the lives of many, both in her professional life and in her community.

At an early age, she learned the power of love and the strength of family. Through the union of Landie Sr. and Anniebelle, they were blessed with seven children. Over the years she became a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a warrior for her family. Mrs. Thomas enjoyed attending family holiday gatherings, celebrating birthdays with family, and being outdoors, always "wearing a hat" and talking with friends and family.

Anniebelle Thomas' silent strength, compassion and unshakable faith will always be remembered. She was preceded in death by her husband, Landie R. Thomas, Sr.; daughter, Sharon Thomas-Stephenson; son, Darryl Thomas; and brother, Jerry Lee Crenshaw.

Anniebelle leaves to cherish in her memories: two brothers, James Crenshaw (Carrie) of Petersburg, Virginia and Robert Crenshaw (Patricia) of Petersburg, Virginia; one sister, Elizabeth Crenshaw of Petersburg, Virginia; five sons, Landie R. Thomas, Jr. (Paulette) of Fort Washington, Maryland; Jeremiah Thomas (April) of Chesterfield, Virginia, Fabian Thomas, Gregory Thomas (Khris) and Brock Thomas (April) all of Petersburg, Virginia;  a very special granddaughter, Shajuan Walker of Dinwiddie, Virginia; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Even during the grief and sadness of her passing, we are continually lifted and comforted by the people and the stories of the lives she touched. Anniebelle will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
