Amaiya A.
Scott
Nov 15, 2006 — Aug 17, 2025
Amaiya A. Scott, 18, of Petersburg, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 17, 2025. She was born on November 15, 2006, in Newport News, Virginia.
Amaiya spent her early childhood in Newport News before moving to Petersburg at the age of nine. She attended A.P. Hill Elementary School, Vernon Johns Junior High, and proudly graduated from Petersburg High School. A gifted student with a bright future, Amaiya had plans to continue her education at Brightpoint Community College to pursue a career as an electrician.
A lover of sports, Amaiya was a dedicated athlete who played both volleyball and softball throughout her four years of high school, often taking her place at second base or shortstop. She also worked at Hardee's for three years, where she was known for her work ethic, laughter, and warm personality. A true social butterfly, Amaya was rarely seen without a smile and surrounded by friends.
She enjoyed spending her summers working hard and enjoying life, always saying she "loved to get that money." Outside of work and school, Amaiya could be found making TikToks, dancing, and listening to her favorite music. She especially loved Rod Wave and Chris Brown and never missed the chance to attend their concerts.
Amaiya's vibrant spirit touched everyone she met, leaving behind memories filled with joy, laughter, and love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Elnora Mae Bunch; grandmother, Linda Ferguson; and grandfather, Aaron A. Scott, Sr.
Amaiya leaves to cherish her memory: her father, Aaron Scott, Jr.; mom, Demetria Chavis; siblings, Harold Bunch, Ronald Bunch, Ashley Bunch, (Shontavia), Erica Bunch, Latoya Bunch (Terrence), Ronisha Bunch (Charles), Ishayla Bunch, Karen Bunch, and Nycari Scott. She is also survived by her devoted aunt Natasha Scott, Arnell Scott (Brianna), Donzel Goodwin, Andrew Scott, Damian Blunt, Earticia Gray (Nathan) and special auntie, Ruthdell Spencer.
She shared a special bond with her Grandmother Mollie Hall, and will forever be remembered by her close friends, Kamiya Evans, Tatianna Walker Rawlings, Kassidy Clayton, Kennedy Clayton, Ziyanna Johnson, Kamora Clanton, Kamiya Garrett, Trill Jones, Zamaiya Cooper, and India and Anaya Wright. Amaiya also held a deep love and respect for her favorite teachers, Ms. T. Coggin and Ms. A. Hayes, who inspired and encouraged her throughout her education. A long with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
