Alonzo N. Crowell

Alonzo N. Crowell a loving husband, father and grandfather, departed this life on Thursday, September 10, 2026. He was born October 18, 1951 to Annie Ellis and John Crowell.

Alonzo attended Petersburg Public Schools. He retired as a barber from Kilma Barbershop in Fort Lee, Virginia. He was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Lakers fan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Ellis; father, John Crowell; grandparents, Thomas Williams and Louise Williams; and stepfather, Horace Ellis.

Alonzo leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife, Vanessa Crowell (Talley), with whom he shared 38 years together and 15 years of marriage; one son, Jerome Talley (Cierra); one daughter, Antoinette Talley; nine grandchildren, Savona Crawford, Nautica Hanks (Blake), Tito Coleman, Jr., Antonio Calloway, Dezarea Taylor, Jamari Taylor, Keyon Taylor, Taj Coleman, and Ja'Mez Gordon; four great-grandchildren; two uncles, Jerome Williams and Charlie Ellis; two sisters-in-law, Frances Talley and Lavern Cook; one brother-in-law, Kelvin Talley; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends too numerous to name.

The family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Ojediran, Gentiva Hospice, and Nurse Brittany Johnson for the care and support provided to Alonzo.

Alonzo will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Kassandra Bullock, Pastor, and Rev. Herbert Holly II, eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
