Ms. Adrine Robertson Cook, affectionately known to many as “Momma Cook,” age 72, of Dinwiddie, VA gained her Heavenly Wings at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. She was born in Petersburg, VA, on January 7, 1954, to the late James A. Robertson and Mildred Bullock Robertson. In addition to her parents, Ms. Cook was predeceased by her husband, Larry Cook, Sr.; one sister, Renee Robertson Tabb; one brother, Kim M. Robertson, her granddaughter, Ceilniece R. Cook; her nephew, Malcolm Robertson; her aunt, Maxcine Coulton (Herbert Jr.) and her uncle, Robert Bullock.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA. She later joined Olive Branch Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the Hospitality and Pastor’s Aid Ministries. She graduated from Petersburg High School and retired from Southside Virginia Training Center. She will always be remembered for her delicious home-cooked meals and the love she poured into every dish she prepared. She had a generous heart and a spirit that was always willing to give to others. When she made a commitment, she stood firmly by her word and made sure it was honored. If she was unable to fulfill a promise herself, she would ensure that someone she trusted followed through on her behalf. Her word was her bond, and she believed in doing what she said she would do.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her loving and devoted children, Larry Cook, Jr. (Crystal) and Mizelle Cook; her beloved children of the heart, Emily Hall, Pastor Kevin M. Northam (Cheryl) and Dondre Jones (Angie); her beloved grandchildren, Dante Johnson, Shavonta Cook, Talia Cook, Joi Miles, Alonzo Miles, Jr., Trinitee Bell, Cherish Bell, Cassidy Lopez-Hall, Larry Cook III, and Amir Moore; great grandchildren, Kennedi Balthrop (her Boo Boo), Aaleeyah Fouts, Damien Fouts, Myla Gale and Carmen Roney, her special granddaughter, Destiny Shands; her loving goddaughter, Shelby Walker and her grandpups, Precious and Champ. She is also survived by four half-sisters, Lynette Nicholas (Alphonso Sr.), Michelle Roy (Reginald Sr.), Karen Shelton, and Gilda Robertson; her chosen brother, Jerry Browder (Barbara); six nephews, Theron Terry, Jr. (Jenny), Reginald McBride, Kim McBride, Ikego Robertson, Kavin Robertson, Alphonso Nicholas, Jr., Reginald Roy, Jr. Cameron Robertson (Dulce), Alex Robertson and Makhale Robertson (Sheriyse); two nieces; Keirra Cotman (Brad) and Rachelle Roy; a host of cousins, one devoted cousin, Deborah McKensie, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Barbara Walker, Paula Walker, Beverly Claiborne, Blanche Arnold, Lydia Shands, Candace Roney, Patricia Tucker, Phyllis Shands, Juanita Walker, Gracy Robertson and Sheila Bonner.
