Life Legacy

Ret. Major James T. Jackson Jr., 70, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, in Prince George, VA from natural causes.

James was born July 18, 1937, in Natchez, MS, to the late James T. Jackson, Sr. and Anna P. Jackson-Tenner.

James honorably served in the United States Army for 20 plus years. He became a Green Beret, a member of the Special Forces, and retired as an Officer. Also during his military career he served two tours in the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. He received his Masters Degree from Chapman College and went on to work in the computer and teaching field. James served as the Assistant Director of Chapman College, he taught at Kee Business College in Richmond, VA, and he was a Computer Programmer, and Systems Analyst for the City of Richmond, Synoptix, Fort Lee, and Virginia State University. His last position was Resident Manager at Virginia State University.

He leaves to cherish his sons, James T. Jackson of Atlanta, GA and Terry L. Jackson of Durham, NC; daughter, Toosdhi D. Jackson of Chesterfield, VA; mother, Anna P. Jackson-Tenner of Natchez MS; ex-wife, Paula J. Mims of Petersburg VA; four sisters, Lollie Jackson- Doss of Natchez, MS, Rosalee JacksonHubbard of New Orleans, MS, Edna JacksonSmith, and Jimmie Lee Jackson of Detroit MI, two brothers, William Jackson and Frank Jackson both of Detroit MI; cousin, Lillie Sophie Fleming; nieces Arlecia Foster and Keeshia Chapman both of Prince George, VA; step-daughter, Annette Moore of Hillsborough; a host of grandchildren, step- children, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

His kind giving heart, sense of humor, and unconditional love shall be remembered.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 13, 2007, at the chapel of the J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA. The Rev. Herbert Holly, Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Chesterfield, VA, Officiating. Interment to follow in Arlington National Cemetery, 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007.
