|Mrs. Creasy Louise Butts, also known as “Big Ma”, born on November 12, 1920 to the late Walter and Helen Royal, Sr. of Blackstone, VA. She attended Nottaway County Schools. She later moved to Petersburg, VA, where she met and married the late Charles Butts, Sr.
She attended Harvest International Full Gospel Baptist Center, Inc. under the leadership of Bishop Mary P. Bonner.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by five children, Charlotte Mae Jones, Charles Jr., Paul, Hugh, William Henry Butts; one great grandson, Javon Butts and five brothers, Martin, Arthur, Paul, Gordon and Walter Royal, Jr.
She is survived by five children, Sarah Glenn, Carolyn, Marvin, Ronnie and Keith Butts all of Petersburg, VA; twenty-five grandchildren, Thomas, Delnette, Michelle, Rhonda, Delveccio, Delqukis, Don, Damion, Shantae, Shaniqua, Monique, Willie, Edward Jr., Dwayne, Martio, Elvay, Timothy, Audrey, Hugh, Martin, Shaqueta, Deasha, Dearenz, Kevin and Diane; sixty-eight great grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends, among them devoted: Reyad Mohammad, Eva Burkes, Pauline Graves, Kim McNair, Karen Phelphs, Mohamed “Moe” Salem, Cecil Winfield and Katherine Brackett.
A funeral service for Mrs. Creasy L. Butts, also known as “Big Ma” will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Harvest International Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1017 W. Washington Street, Petersburg, VA, Bishop Mary P. Bonner, Pastor, Eulogist. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
